Lease to Own a Car in the UAE

Lease to own means you pay a monthly amount for a fixed number of months, and at the end of the last month the car is transferred into your name. In the UAE this is done through a car rental company instead of a bank, so there is no salary certificate, no salary transfer and no credit bureau check.

What lease to own actually means here

You pick a car from our stock. You pay a part of the car price at the start. That starting payment is what buys the car, it is not a deposit and there is nothing else on top of it. Then you pay one fixed amount every month for the agreed term.

The term is 24 or 36 months, depending on the car. There is no balloon payment and no final lump sum. The last monthly payment is the last payment you make. After it, the car is transferred to you, as written in the contract.

During the term the car is registered to the owning company. This is normal for this kind of plan, and the transfer at the end is part of the signed agreement. You sign with Carborn Car Rental L.L.C, a company licensed in Dubai under trade licence 1144437. The cars on our list are our own stock, not a third party inventory.

The list of cars, the monthly payment for each one, the term and the starting payment all live on our website. Stock moves, so the list changes. Check the site for what is available today.

Who this is for

Banks in the UAE usually want a salary transfer, a salary certificate, a clean AECB record and some months of history in the country. Many people here do not have all of that. Lease to own exists for them.

We will be straight with you. If you qualify for a bank loan, a bank loan is usually cheaper over the full period. If you can get one, compare it before you sign with us. This page is for people who cannot use that route, or who do not want to.

What is inside the monthly payment

On most plans, insurance and the agreed servicing are inside the monthly payment. So you are not hit with a separate insurance renewal or a service bill in the middle of the year.

Fines and Salik are paid by the driver. That is you. Anything you collect on the road is yours.

There is no deposit and no hidden fee on top of the starting payment and the monthly payment. Two numbers, and you can see both on the site for every car before you contact anybody.

Read the last row again. We are not pretending to beat a bank on price. We are a route for people the bank says no to, and a way to stop paying rent on a car you will never keep.

Documents and how to start

Three things:

  1. Emirates ID, or a passport with a valid UAE visa.
  2. A UAE driving licence.
  3. A security cheque.

No bank, no salary certificate, no AECB check. We do not promise approval to anyone before we have spoken and seen the documents. What we can tell you is what we look at, and it is not your credit score.

The steps are simple. Look at the current list and prices on the website. Tell us which car you want. Bring the documents to the showroom, or send them on WhatsApp first. We buy the car you picked, you pay your part of the price, you sign, and you drive.

Our showroom is at Midtown Central, Majan, Shop 28, Dubai. Open every day from 10am to 8pm.

One thing this car cannot do

A car on a private lease to own plan cannot be used for Uber or Careem in Dubai. Ride-hailing work needs commercial plates issued through a limousine company. A private plate car is not allowed to do it, whoever the car belongs to. If your plan is to drive for a ride-hailing app, this is not the right product for you, and we would rather say that now than after you sign.

For everything else, personal use, family, commuting, driving to your own business, a lease to own car is a normal car with a normal plate.

Questions people ask

Is there a payment at the start? +
Yes. You pay a part of the car price at the start. That payment is what buys the car you picked. It is not a refundable deposit, and there is nothing else added on top of it. The amount is different for every car, so it is listed with the car on our website.
Do you check my credit record? +
No. There is no credit bureau (AECB) check and no salary certificate. We look at your Emirates ID or passport with a valid UAE visa, your UAE driving licence and a security cheque. We do not promise approval before we have seen the documents.
Is there a balloon payment at the end? +
No. There is no balloon payment and no final lump sum. Your last monthly payment is the last payment. After that the car is transferred to you, as written in the contract.
Who owns the car during the term? +
The car is registered to the owning company during the 24 or 36 months, and it transfers to you at the end of the term. You sign the contract with Carborn Car Rental L.L.C, licensed in Dubai under trade licence 1144437. The cars on our list are our own stock.
Is a bank loan cheaper than lease to own? +
For someone who qualifies at a bank, usually yes. If you have a salary transfer and a clean credit record, compare a bank loan first. Lease to own is for people who cannot use a bank or do not want to.
