Lease to Own a Car in Abu Dhabi
Lease to own, also called rent-to-own, means you pay a part of the car price at the start, then a fixed monthly payment for 24 or 36 months, and at the end the car is transferred to your name. No bank is involved, so there is no salary certificate and no credit bureau (AECB) check. DriveToOwn works from a showroom in Dubai, and many of our customers live and work in Abu Dhabi and drive up once to pick the car and sign.
What lease to own actually means
You pick a car from the list on our website. We buy that car. You pay a part of the car price at the start. That starting payment is what buys the car. It is not a deposit, and there is nothing else on top of it.
After that you pay a fixed amount every month. The term is 24 or 36 months, depending on the car. On most plans, insurance and the agreed servicing are already inside the monthly payment. Fines, Salik and other road tolls are paid by you, the driver.
There is no balloon payment and no final lump sum. The last monthly payment is the last payment. Then the car is transferred to you, as written in the contract.
The monthly amount and the starting payment are different for every car, and stock moves, so the numbers live on drivetoown.me. Please check the current list there instead of asking us for a general price.
Who this is for
Most people who come to us are in one of these situations:
- Self-employed on a trade licence, with no fixed salary to show a bank.
- Salaried, but the salary is not transferred to the bank that would give the loan.
- New in the UAE, with a short history in the country and no credit file yet.
- Not interested in taking bank debt at all.
We do not promise approval to anyone. We look at your documents and the car you picked, and we tell you yes or no.
Documents we ask for
The list is short:
- Emirates ID, or passport with a valid UAE visa.
- A valid UAE driving licence.
- A security cheque.
No bank, no salary certificate, no credit bureau check. There is no deposit and no hidden fee on top of the starting payment and the monthly payment.
If you live in Abu Dhabi
Our showroom is at Midtown Central, Majan, Shop 28, Dubai. It is open every day from 10am to 8pm. The drive from Abu Dhabi is about ninety minutes, and one visit is usually enough to see the car and sign.
The cars on the site are our own stock. You sign with Carborn Car Rental L.L.C, trade licence 1144437, licensed in Dubai. During the term the car is registered to the owning company, and it transfers to you at the end of the term as written in the contract.
You can use the car normally for daily life and work in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, or anywhere else in the UAE. Fines and tolls follow the driver, so pay them on time. If you plan to move the registration to Abu Dhabi after the transfer, that is a step you handle at the end, once the car is in your name.
One limit to be clear about: a car on a private rent-to-own plan cannot be used for Uber or Careem. Ride-hailing in the UAE needs commercial plates through a limousine company. Our plans are private plates only.

Read the table before you read anything else on this page. It shows where lease to own helps and where it does not.
When a bank loan is the better choice
If you have a stable salary, you transfer it to a bank, and the bank gives you a car loan, the bank is usually cheaper over the full term. Banks lend money at a rate. We buy a car and rent it to you until you own it, and that carries more cost on our side, so the total you pay is higher.
So the fair way to decide is simple. Try a bank first. If the bank says no, or asks for a salary transfer you cannot do, or the paperwork takes weeks you do not have, then lease to own is a real option. If the bank says yes on good terms, take the bank.
How to start
- Open drivetoown.me and look at the current cars. Each car shows its own monthly payment, its term and its starting payment.
- Send us the car you want on WhatsApp at +971585276277.
- Send the documents: Emirates ID or passport with visa, UAE driving licence.
- Come to the showroom in Majan, Dubai, see the car, read the contract, hand over the security cheque and the starting payment.
- Drive the car back to Abu Dhabi the same day if everything is in order.
Ask us anything you want in writing before you sign. If a number is not clear in the contract, do not sign until it is.
